Acoustic Guitar Models

Pappenfüs Guitars uses a model system that divides the instruments by size. Model 1 is the smallest and Model 5 is the largest. Jeremy has chosen to focus on a “center out” approach in which the location of the bridge dictates the relationship between the scale length and neck attachment on each model.  The addition of individual features is available on all models. Jeremy has a growing list of features below that help you create an instrument that will inspire and empower you to meet your musical goals. Custom builds use a design progression that puts sound first, followed by ergonomics and aesthetics.

  • Model 1

The Model 1 is Pappenfüs Guitars smallest steel string guitar. Designed as a compact, intimate size, the Model 1 is perfect for solo couch sessions, traveling, or even performances that are inclined to the tone of a smaller instrument.  Model 1 instruments are constructed with dual side sound ports that focus the main tones towards the player.  Neck attachment can be built between the 12th fret to 14th fret depending on the players preferred scale length.

    Overall specifications:

Total length: 38”/966mm (+/- depending on scale length)

    Body length: 17.925”/454mm

    Upper bout: 9.5”/241mm

    Waist: 7.25”/184mm

    Lower bout: 12.75”/324mm

    Depth @ tail block: 4”/105mm

  • Model 2

The Model 2 increases proportionately from the Model 1 to help bring warmer tones and a larger sound while still maintaining the comfort of a smaller instrument.  A pairing of a larger side sound port with a smaller top port will give the player a true representation of the instruments tone while simultaneously presenting the audience with a warm, intimate sound. Neck attachment can be built between the 12th fret to 14th fret depending on preferred scale length.

    Overall specifications:

Total length: 38.5”/978mm (+/- depending on scale length)

    Body length: 18.425”/467mm

    Upper bout: 10”/254mm

    Waist: 8”/204mm

    Lower bout: 13.75”/349mm

    Depth @ tail block: 4”/105mm

  • Model 3

The Model 3 blends the comfort of a small guitar with the flexibility of an orchestral model sized instrument.  With plenty of projection and an even EQ, the Model 3 allows the player to perform with confidence that they can achieve the sound they want from the guitar.  This size is best suited with a 12th fret neck attachment which places the bridge in a “sweet spot” for a warm, robust tone.

    Overall specifications:

    Total length: 39.5”/1004mm

    Body length: 19.5”/495mm

    Upper bout: 11.175”/283mm

    Waist: 9.5”/242mm

    Lower bout: 14.75”/375mm

    Depth @ tail block: 4.25”/108mm

  • Model 4

The Model 4 is a classic well rounded instrument that can handle whatever you want to throw at it.  A slightly enlarged lower bout allows this guitar to produce a more rounded low end while still maintaining clarity and separation with the mid range and highs needed for finger style playing.  The scale length and body alignment can be played with to further customize your sound.  This shape is also well suited for guitars that feature a “multi scale or fan fret” finger board.

    Overall specifications:

    Total length: 40.5”/1022mm

    Body length: 19.5”/495mm

    Upper bout: 11.175”/283mm

    Waist: 9.425”/239mm

    Lower bout: 15”/381mm

    Depth @ Tail block: 4.25”/108mm

  • Model 5

The Model 5 is the largest size offered by Pappenfüs Guitars.  Built with volume, low end, and resonance in mind, this guitar is built for the stage and recording studio.  By bringing the waist of the guitar in, the Model 5 is designed to accommodate a wide range of player sizes. Model 5 guitars come with a Manzer Wedge for better ergonomics, include a micro bevel for the arm on the lower bout, and are also well suited for a “multi scale or fan fret” finger board.

    Overall specifications:

    Total length: 41.25”/1048mm (25.4”scale)

    Body length: 20”/508mm

    Upper bout: 11.375”/289mm
